The film was launched on 5 September 2018 tentatively titled as #Prabhas20. Veteran actress Bhagyashree is cast in a crucial role in the film. The film is a romantic drama set in 1970's Europe.
Principal photography commenced on 6 October 2018. Filming took place in Hyderabad, Turin (Italy) and Georgia, after which it was suspended due to COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020. Filming resumed in Italy in October 2020. In December 2020, few crucial scenes were shot at the Falaknuma Palace in Hyderabad. Final schedule of the film began on 25 June 2021 in Hyderabad. Filming was completed wrapped up on 28 July 2021.

Later in July 2021, it was announced that the film will be released on 14 January 2022, coinciding with the festival of Sankranti, in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam languages.

On 14 February 2021, coinciding with Valentine's Day, the makers unveiled the first glimpse of the film, revealing its title as Radhe Shyam. The film's first look poster was released on 10 July 2020. It shows Pooja Hegde and Prabhas together seemingly doing a dance routine. Prabhas is wearing a white suit and Pooja Hegde is seen in a red dress. Prabhas and Pooja Hegde feature in a loved-up moment against a dramatic backdrop of an orange sky and scarlet waters.
The makers unveiled Pooja Hegde's first look poster featuring Pooja Hegde on her birthday, 13 October 2020, revealing her character name as "Prerana" in the film. Pooja Hegde can be seen sporting a retro look. She looks gorgeous in an olive green dress, which she paired with a printed long jacket and a scarf wrapped around her head as an accessory.
